🌱 The Roots of Knowledge: A Journey of Growth and

 In Uganda, where every seed sown has the potential to transform lives, I, Derrick Luyimbaazi Kaggwa, embarked on a mission to combine education, environmental stewardship, and personal growth. This journey gave birth to “Roots of Knowledge with Derrick Luyimbaazi Kaggwa” — a platform dedicated to nurturing minds, planting hope, and inspiring action.


📚 Education as the Foundation


My journey began in classrooms, where I realized that education is more than textbooks. It is about sparking curiosity, building confidence, and empowering students to become change-makers. Each lesson taught, each student mentored, became a root strengthening the foundation of knowledge in my community.


🌳 Environmental Advocacy: Every Birthday Tree Day


Alongside teaching, I was inspired to take action for the environment. Under the mentorship and guidance of Dr. Dennis Daniel Ssemugenyi, I became a key coordinator for the Every Birthday Tree Day Initiative (EBTDI). This initiative encourages individuals to plant trees equivalent to their age on their birthdays, symbolizing a commitment to climate restoration and environmental sustainability.


Dr. Ssemugenyi has been the driving force behind this initiative, mobilizing communities across Africa and Europe, securing supporters to donate seedlings, and promoting global awareness about tree planting and environmental responsibility. Through this initiative, thousands of trees have been planted, fostering green communities and inspiring environmental consciousness.
